The classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games compiled

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy is a premium adventure experience, compiling the three main entries of the cult classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series of games. Originally PC-exclusive games, these survival experiences now make their way to modern consoles. Explore different parts of The Zone, uncover the conspiracies happening within, and interact with various characters known as the Stalkers.

Like other bundles, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy offers the original game in their original glory. It contains the formerly Windows-only games S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.Shadow of Chernobyl.

Explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy lets you experience the first three games, from Shadow of Chernobyl to Call of Pripyat, released from 2007 to 2009. This repackaged set comes shortly before the series’ fourth main title, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. All games are set in a fictional version of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, home to unauthorized experimentation and artificially augmented people, known as Stalkers.

The games are known for a number of reasons. Its NPCs have earned praise for their balanced gameplay mechanics and variety in terms of dialogue and behavior. The overall environment is also well-designed, and these were among the first games to integrate emergent gameplay elements. Of course, the game stresses survival and strategy over upfront action, with its general difficulty level and the variety of its progression.

Aside from bringing the classic survival games to consoles, this re-release also remasters the games, sparing players from having to endure the dated graphics. Still, with all its world-building and well-rounded storytelling, there’s still a persistent issue with the original games. The enemies are quite challenging head-on. Combine this with the intermittent AI scripting issues, and expect sudden difficulty spikes in the game.

A one-stop-shop for new players

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games have already established themselves in the survival gaming genre, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy is a great opportunity to bring the franchise to a new generation of gamers. Their main selling point, aside from what great games the originals were, is that the graphics were remastered to meet modern technical standards. Be warned of its bugs-turned-features with the enemies, though.
